It's day #9! Ryan and I are adjusting well with only moderate bags under our eyes. :) We have officially lost track of what day it is which is sort of nice! I am SO grateful that Ryan has all this time off, as it is great to be together all day long for these first few weeks. Rowan is eating like a champ and only gets up twice during the night, which is completely manageable. I am crossing my fingers that he continues that! I have been pooped on twice now and Ryan was peed on! Good times. I think we can qualify ourselves as official parents now!
We have enjoyed all of our visitors and are thankful for the yummy meals, snacks, and gifts that people have brought! Last Monday, we went on an outing to visit Rowan's Great Great Grandma Howdy-Do on her 95th birthday. It was so cute to see her with him and it is a memory that we won't forget. :) We are meeting with our Doula this coming week and I am looking forward to seeing all of the pictures that she took during my labor and delivery. I know there will be some good ones (especially ones with everyone who was there that night) that I had no idea she was even taking!
We are getting to know our little man more and more and it is just amazing to look at him all day long and notice his unique features. The biggest surprise was his dark hair! Ryan and I were both toe-heads as babies. I think he somehow got my dad's hair, although the hair line is all Ryan! He even has little sideburns which I find hilarious! (See picture below) The only clear part of him that I know is mine are his long fingernails. It is also fun to see his smile come out when he dreams. I can't wait until it is an actual voluntary smile. :)
Brandie still loves him and was getting up in the middle of the night with me for each feeding, but has since figured out that it is not worth it- she was getting pretty tired! She has been really gentle with him, except for when he is in his car seat. She wants to jump in with him and his blankets. We will have to work on that one!
